A statute of limitations (S.O.L.) is a period of time set by law in which a claim must be filed. According to The Texas Wrongful Death Act the statute of limitations for a wrongful death claim is two (2) years from the time of death. However if your loved one died more than two years ago, we may be able to find a way to move your claim forward.
What that means is that the claim must be resolved within that two-year period from the time of death or a lawsuit must be filed within that two-year period, thus filing a lawsuit will extend the deadline further.
