E-bike use increased by nearly 80% after the pandemic limited public transportation options.

E-Bikes in San Antonio: When You Can Sue

E-bikes have become incredibly popular across the United States, and no wonder. They are easier to use than normal bikes, making them more accessible, and are an eco-friendly option to get around downtown.

However, e-bikes are not without their dangers, especially for inexperienced riders. If you were injured on or by an e-bike in San Antonio, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.

Defective E-Bike Accidents

E-bikes have motors that assist the user with pedaling. If these motors stop working, explode, or otherwise malfunction while you are riding, you can be seriously injured.

If a defective e-bike caused your injury, you may be able to sue the company who made or rented them to you under product liability law, which protects U.S. consumers from dangerous products.

Pedestrian E-Bike Accidents

If you are hit by an e-bike while walking, you may be able to sue the rider for your injuries.

In order to sue for an e-bike pedestrian accident, the rider would need to be negligent and have directly caused your injury. For example, if they were riding on the sidewalk or on their phone when they hit you, they would likely be held legally responsible for your injury.

Auto Accident With E-Bike

San Antonio is not exactly known as a bike-friendly city. If a reckless driver hit you while you were riding an e-bike, you may be able to sue for your injuries.

A collision with a vehicle can potentially involve many parties. Construction companies, government entities, manufacturers, and dealerships could potentially become involved. As long as you were not more than 50% responsible for the accident, and the driver (or other party) was negligent, you can file a personal injury claim.
