An accident that led to injuries sustained by two individuals occurred early on a Monday morning on the city’s Southeast Side. The crash happened at roughly 1 a.m. on SE Military Drive near South W.W. White Road. Initially reported, the female driver and one passenger were heading down SE Military when the driver couldn’t control the car, and it rolled over numerous times off the road.

The injuries and damages sustained can be extremely severe when rollover accidents occur. Not only are you in danger of sustaining injuries, but other vehicles on the road are as well. There are many different types of injuries you could suffer in these types of accidents. Some of these include Head trauma, Brain damage, Soft-tissue injuries like whiplash, Concussions, Spinal cord injury, Paraplegia / Quadriplegia, Amputations, Burns, and Scars from glass or flying debris.

Who is at fault in an auto accident in San Antonio?

Personal Injury and Negligence law varies widely between States. Texas is an “At-Fault” State, as opposed to a “No-Fault” State like Florida or Pennsylvania. This means that any driver who is either completely or at least 50% responsible for an accident must take legal responsibility for it. To recover damages from the responsible party, the plaintiff must prove that the other party is at least 50% responsible for the accident. That is why it is important to call the police, or if the police cannot come to the accident site, to go to the police station and file a report if you have been in an auto accident in San Antonio. Our experienced attorneys at the Law Office of Carabin Shaw have nearly 30 years of experience dealing with big insurance companies here in San Antonio. On April 13, 2022, a major accident on I-10 near De Zavala resulted in two people being hospitalized, with one man dying from his injuries as reported by KSAT News. The crash was apparently caused by a blown tire on an 18-wheeler causing it to swerve to the left. It crashed into two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a Jeep latitude. The Corolla was driven onto a nearby median, where it slid until it was slammed into a metal pillar, and there it erupted into flames. The driver, a man, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries and tragically lost his life. He was 55-year-old Johnny Rodriguez Jr. of Boerne, as identified by Bexar County medical examiner. The driver of the Jeep was also taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries. The condition of the driver of the Jeep and the driver of the gravel rig is unknown at this time. The accident happened just after 5 P.M. and resulted in a major traffic pileup, as reported by fire officials attempting to clear the scene.

A fully loaded gravel rig can weigh up to 20,000 pounds. This tremendous weight combined with Interstate speeds often results in devastating accidents like this one. Because of this, even though trucking accidents only account for roughly six percent of total accidents in the United States, they have destructive consequences. Nearly 28 percent of trucking accidents result in serious injury, and over 11 percent result in fatality. This means that 107,000 people are injured, and 4,415 people are killed every year in an accident with an 18-wheeler.

(Monday, March 28th) A fatal single-vehicle rollover crash occurred leaving a 4-year-old child deceased at the scene. The Boerne police were dispatched at 2:13 p.m. The accident happened on eastbound I-10 near mile marker 539. An initial investigation revealed that the driver of the black SUV was unable to control the vehicle and overcorrected, causing the SUV to roll repeatedly.

The SUV had three passengers and a driver, the driver was an adult female, and the passengers were an infant, a 2-year old child, and a 4-year-old child. The Initial investigation revealed the children possibly weren’t appropriately restrained in their child safety seats. Unfortunately, all of the children were ejected from the car when the crash occurred, some of them suffering fatal injuries. The 4-year-old was declared dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Michelle Van Stavern of Precinct 1. The other three who sustained injuries were rushed to University Hospital in San Antonio for medical attention.

When the right conditions exist, any vehicle can rollover; however, SUVs and vans are most likely to suffer from these types of dangerous collisions. In the United States, SUVs are being bought at a higher rate than any other type of vehicle. In a city like San Antonio, where there is a high concentration of traffic, such a crash can cause multiple injuries or even death if one of these big vehicles flips or rolls over.

This individual’s actions led to an accident on the Northwest side that ended in the tragic loss of a woman’s life and severely injured four individuals. This event happened at around 6 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Culebra Road and Zarzamora Street. pexels-kampus-production-6300862-300x200San Antonio, Texas:  It’s back to school and back on the roads in Texas, make sure your children are safely buckled up or strapped in for trips in the car.

Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death among children. While most people believe their children are properly buckled up, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) points out that 59% of all car seats are misused. The best way to keep young children safe in your vehicle is to make sure they’re properly buckled up in a car seat. That means selecting a car seat that’s appropriate for a child’s age and size and installing it correctly.

“We encourage parents to take advantage of car seat safety checks available during Passenger Safety Week (September 19-25th).  With proper car seat, car seat installment, and seat belt placement, children are far safer during a motor vehicle collision,” said Carabin Shaw Attorney Carla Dixon. “Knowing the guidelines for height and weight for your children is also extremely important to ensure your child is in the proper car seat or booster seat.  Serious injuries can be greatly reduced as well if we place children rear-facing car seats until ages 2-4.”
