(June 24, 2022) A devastating accident occurred Wednesday evening in south Laredo. This accident happened near the intersection of Jamie Zapata Highway and Los Presidentes. Both automobile drivers explained to the officers that they saw a green light before driving off and then collided with the light post, according to the Laredo Police Department.

According to reports, emergency responders found two 19-year-old victims riding in the same vehicle. It was a multiple-car crash that tragically left a man and a woman in critical condition. When the emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they had to call a rescue team to assist in unpinning a woman from the automobile. She needed serious medical attention and was hastily brought to LMC in critical condition. The man was taken to the same hospital in serious condition. However, due to his extensive injuries, Laredo police state he was later flown to a San Antonio hospital to receive medical attention.

In devastating accidents such as this one, there are numerous situations in which you can sustain injuries ranging in severity. Because every auto accident is different, there are many types of factors that can lead to injuries suffered. For example, the speed at which the vehicle was moving, what caused the collision, and how critical the impact was are some of the many factors involved in auto accidents.

(June 24, 2022) On Thursday, June 16, 2022, early in the morning, a man collided with the back of an 18-wheeler that was stopped on the side of the highway. The accident was devastating and left the man in critical condition. According to reports, the accident occurred on Interstate 35 North near Eisenhauer Road on the Northeast Side. Police stated the 18-wheeler was waiting on the side of the highway for a tow truck when the truck collided with the back of the semi-truck. When the emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they used the Jaws of Life tool to free the man from the truck. Afterward, the man was hastily taken to the hospital, suffering life-threatening injuries.

When tragic accidents like this occur, the natural reaction of people converging on the scene is to make sure no one is injured and offer any necessary help. However, this neglects the legal complexity of what just occurred. Aside from checking the collision victim’s physical health, no one is taking notice of what damages are being altered, which insurance company was contacted first, or if any evidence is being tampered with. When coming to the aid of an injured person, our attorneys do not expect the ordinary citizen to consider all of these factors. However, we believe it is our responsibility to include the above factors as well as more in representing your interests.

Because there are so many legal factors to take into account, it is critical that you call our attorneys ASAP. You need our tractor-trailer wreck attorneys on the case, investigating the site. It helps tremendously to save time and potential compensation if you are able to acquire evidence in the aftermath of the accident. Having solid proof up front saves us time investigating the original accident site and helps your case.

(June 16, 2022) On Wednesday, June 15, 2022, a man tragically died after crashing his vehicle into a tree while leaving his workplace. There were no passengers in the car, and the cause of the accident is unknown. The accident was reported by a coworker who saw him crash while leaving the building and called the police for help. The responding firefighters and emergency medical staff were able to cut him out of the vehicle; however, he was unfortunately already dead. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The tragic single-vehicle accident happened at around 6:40 a.m. this morning on South Zarzamora Street near Hunter’s Pond, just south of Loop 410 on San Antonio’s South side. The investigation is still ongoing, but officers at the scene mentioned the 39-year-old man may have fallen asleep at the wheel. A Toyota spokesperson mentioned in a statement that the man worked for a supply company to the Toyota plant he was leaving but was not a Toyota employee.

This accident follows just one day after authorities identified Jose Ramirez as the 36-year-old victim of a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. This accident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on the North Side of San Antonio on Patricia and Bel Air drive. He was heading southeast when for unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a nearby median. Authorities were able to cut away the top of his vehicle to pull him free, but he was also pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, but authorities stated that speed was a likely factor in this single-vehicle accident.

Do I have a wrongful death claim?

(June 9, 2022) Two crashes caused by negligent drivers going the wrong way left three people dead nearly a month apart. KSAT12 reported an incident on May 8, 2022, on Bandera Road near Zachry drive, where a driver of a white van going the wrong way struck two vehicles at around 10:30 a.m. He was found unresponsive at the scene, and then he died later at the hospital. The other two drivers were seriously injured though they did not receive any life-threatening injuries and were in stable condition. It was not reported whether or not the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Another incident on June 5, 2022, found a driver heading northbound on South Interstate Highway 37. The driver of the 2013 Ford Focus collided with another driver of a 2011 Toyota Corolla at around 2:30 a.m., as reported by KSAT12. The driver of the Toyota was sent into another vehicle and then redirected into a grassy median due to the impact. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Head-on collision accidents usually have very serious consequences. The damage to vehicles and drivers is almost always severe or life-threatening. It is also nearly impossible to avoid a driver traveling the wrong way. The time after a serious accident is emotionally taxing enough without having the additional burden of the legal complexities of auto accident law and insurance companies. Especially if you lost a loved one due to the negligence of another driver, the last thing you want to do is deal with insurance companies who want you to settle for less than your full legal compensation.

(June 9, 2022) Today, on June 9, 2022, at around 3:40 a.m. KSAT 12 reported that an officer crashed into a tow truck while responding to an accident. Police say that the officer was driving over the hill on Loop 410 and Summit Parkway on the Northwest side of San Antonio when for unknown reasons, she collided with the tow truck parked near the side of the road. The officer was responding to a single-vehicle rollover, where a woman apparently lost control of her vehicle when exiting the highway. A tow truck that was helping at another accident nearby stopped to help the woman whose condition was not reported. The officer who collided with the tow truck sustained only minor injuries and was transported to the hospital to get checked out. The driver of the SUV said that she had not been able to locate her dog, a chihuahua mix, who went missing after the accident. The investigation is still ongoing.

In the case of a single-vehicle rollover accident, it is usually impossible to move the damaged vehicle off the road to a safer location. However, if you are in an accident and you are not seriously injured, or if your vehicle is not damaged in a way that makes moving it impossible, it is recommended that you move your vehicle off of the road to a nearby parking lot when waiting for emergency services. In Texas, it is state law that vehicles be moved off the highway for a fender-bender or minor accident. This is in order to keep you, the other driver, and emergency responders safe. Texas highways, especially at night, are not a place you want to be stopped, as other drivers are not expecting it, and visibility can be greatly reduced at night. Finding a safe place off of major roads is a good way to prevent further injury or damage to yourself and your vehicle after a Texas auto accident. (May 26, 2022) Two people are in critical condition, and one person has only minor injuries after a rollover accident on the Far West Side on Saturday, May 21, 2022, according to KSAT News. Authorities are unclear as to what caused the accident or whether drugs or alcohol were involved. The accident happened on Marbach Road and Pue Road at around 12:30 a.m. when an SUV collided with a Jeep and rolled over. The woman driver had to be extracted from the vehicle with Jaws of Life and was transported to a local hospital along with her passenger in critical condition. The driver of the Jeep was also taken to the hospital but fortunately only sustained minor injuries. This happened less than a week after a four-vehicle accident on Tuesday, May 16, 2022, also on the Far West Side, according to NEWS4SA. A driver ran a red light at an intersection at Potranco and Stevens Parkway around 8:15 p.m. No other details were provided, except that at least two people were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

It is possible for any vehicle to roll over. However, SUVs and Pickup trucks are more prone to rollover accidents due to their high center of gravity. Although accounting for a mere 3 percent of all auto accidents, rollover accidents are among the worst types of accidents to experience. Because it is likely that the vehicle occupants will be ejected, the injuries sustained are usually severe if not deadly. Sadly, rollover accidents account for 10,000 deaths a year, or thirty-five percent of all traffic fatalities. Sixty-nine percent of deaths in rollover accidents are caused by the motorist’s failure to wear safety restraints. Design flaws can also be a contributing factor. If this is the case, the manufacturer may be liable for damages.

(May 26, 2022) On Thursday, May 19, 2022, a woman died after crashing violently into a ditch, according to KENS 5 News. The accident occurred early morning at around 2:15 AM off of I-35 and Binz-Eagleman on San Antonio’s Eastside. At first, the police assumed she had somehow driven directly off of the highway, judging by how mangled the vehicle was. However, later they determined she had most likely exited onto the access road before crashing, according to the report. Emergency medical services tried to save the woman, whose name had not been released, but they were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Safe driving habits for driving at night:

There are a few differences between driving in the daytime and driving at night. Following a few extra rules is critical for staying safe on Texas roads at night.

(May 20, 2022) Two people fled the scene of an accident early this morning when a pickup truck collided with two trains on the West Side, according to KSAT. The accident happened at around 2:15 AM when a pickup truck drove off of a dead-end road and through a fence, colliding with a train parked on the nearby tracks. Police say that the drivers fled the vehicle. Later, another train collided with the pickup truck, wedging it between the two trains. No injuries were reported as a result. Both crashes happened on the tracks at the end of Kirk Place, which is a neighborhood street near Highway 90. When police reached the owner of the pickup by phone, he denied driving the truck, saying he had lent it to two friends who called him after the collision. The police have been unable to reach them. The road was temporarily closed while clean-up crews spent hours clearing the debris.

Do I have to call the police if I have been in an accident?

Texas Law requires that the police are notified of any vehicle accident if someone has been injured or killed or if damages exceed $1,000. Failure to do so is illegal and can result in either a misdemeanor or felony charge, depending on the extent of the damage or injuries.

(May 20, 2022) Late Thursday night, around 11 P.M., a 35-year-old man was struck by a motor vehicle while trying to cross the street, according to KSAT news. The accident occurred around North Zarzamora road on the 1700 block of Fredericksburg Road, just north of Downtown near Interstate 10. Police stated that though the driver did not stop to render aid, he was not found to be intoxicated, and no charges are currently being filed. The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was taken to University Hospital last night in critical condition. His name was not released. There have been no updates as of this morning.

Texas Accidents on the Rise

On March 14, 2022, the TxDOT reported that 2021 marked the second-deadliest year for Texas roadways, with 4,480 people killed. That is a mere two hundred and twenty-one less than the deadliest year since 1940, reported in 1981. Several thousand of these deaths were caused by the simple but devastating mistakes of not wearing a seatbelt or driving over the posted speed limit. 2021 also saw a 15% increase in fatalities over 2020, with an 18.4% increase in the first half of the year alone. The TxDOT is tracking accidents to determine where roads need to be improved to make our roads safer. However, the primary responsibility for safe roads in Texas lies in the hands of Texas motorists. Commissioner Laura Ryan said, “Driving behavior is the cause, but also one of the most important solutions. This is not blame. These are the facts. We all have a role.” If you or someone you love has been affected by the careless actions of a Texas motorist, you may be entitled to legal compensation. During assessing a crash that had just happened, the crews onsite got a call about another crash that had just occurred. This crash occurred at around 1 a.m. on a Monday on Highway 151 access road. In this crash, the female driver of the vehicle was driving on Loop 410 when she suddenly could no longer control her car, and it, unfortunately, rolled over. Because her vehicle rolled over, it trapped her inside, and she was unable to escape on her own. When the firefighters arrived and the scene, they managed to cut the woman out of the vehicle. Her injuries sustained in this single-vehicle accident were severe enough to be considered life-threatening. She was immediately brought to University Hospital for medical treatment.

It is frightening and dangerous when a vehicle rolls over, and the driver and passengers involved may sustain devastating injuries. Unfortunately, rollovers are more likely to happen when SUVs and trucks are involved in the accident. Understanding the kinds of automobiles that are most likely to roll over in a crash and how to reduce your chances of getting into a rollover accident can help you make better choices while driving.

According to vehicle safety tests, the Cadillac Escalade and the Chevrolet Tahoe are among the most likely vehicles to roll over. Even so, it is essential to note that any automobile can roll over regardless of make and model under the correct conditions. Those who have sustained injuries in rollover accidents may be entitled to compensation. Rollover crashes can be minimized by taking certain steps.
