65-Year-Old Passenger Ejected, Killed in Late-Night Rollover Crash

Do you know what to do if you’re injured as a passenger in an auto accident?

Senior Man Killed After Being Ejected in North-Side Rollover Accident

According to a KSAT News report, a senior passenger was killed in a rollover crash last weekend.

Police reported the accident happened at around 11:45 p.m. on I-10 Westbound near Camp Bullis Road last Saturday evening. A white 2024 BMW was reportedly driving in the second lane when they swerved left to avoid construction cones. The sudden swerve apparently caused the driver to lose control, driving off the road into the grassy median. The vehicle rolled, causing a passenger in the back seat to be ejected. He died of his injuries at the scene. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as 65-year-old Valeriy Teodossiev. No other injuries were reported.

5 Key Steps to Take If You’re Injured in an Auto Accident as a Passenger

If you were injured as a passenger in a Texas auto accident, you have rights.

There are specific steps you need to take to protect your claim from the start. Let’s take a look at what to do if you’re hurt as a passenger in an auto accident.

Step 1: Call 9-1-1

If anyone is hurt in an accident, you are legally required to report it to the police.

Having a police report is often required for insurance claims and is strong evidence in the claims process. Also, it is important to seek immediate medical attention after an accident so your injuries do not worsen.

Step 2: Gather Evidence

Take photos and/or video of any visible injuries and the crash scene. In addition, gather the following information from the driver(s) involved:

  1. Name,
  2. Address,
  3. Phone Number,
  4. And Insurance Information.

You may also ask for the name and phone number of any witnesses to the accident.

Step 3: Seek Medical Attention

Even if you don’t think you are very hurt, it is best practice to get evaluated by a doctor ASAP.

Some injuries appear after an accident and can be life-threatening if not caught in time. You may be more hurt than you think, and it’s never worth the risk. In regards to your claim, the defense may argue you’re lying about your injuries if you don’t seek immediate medical attention.

Step 4: Report the Accident to Your Insurance

After you have completed the above steps, report the accident to your insurance.

It is important that you don’t delay this step. A claim can be denied if you don’t report the accident in a timely manner. Additionally, one in seven drivers is uninsured, so you may need to rely on your own coverage to recover after an injury.

Step 5: Call an Auto Accident Attorney
