Two Accidents on Highway 57 One Day Apart Leave Six Dead
According to a KSAT News report, Highway 57 near Uvalde saw two deadly accidents one day apart that left six people dead.
Police reported the first accident happened on Tuesday, January 21st, sometime in the early morning. An accident between two vans caused by ice on the Nueces River Bridge caused a Ford F-150 to pull over. Multiple passengers from the vans tried to wave down a passing 18-wheeler to warn them about the ice, but the 18-wheeler did not stop and crashed into all three vehicles. Four passengers from the vans and the driver of the Ford F-150 were killed. Seven others were taken to the hospital for treatment.
In a second incident on Wednesday, January 22nd, at around 5:30 a.m., a woman was driving on Highway 57, five miles east of Batesville. For unknown reasons, she swerved into oncoming traffic, crashing head-on into a Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer traveling in the opposite direction. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
